To choose the perfect electromagnetic lock or maglock that will take your project to the next level, it is crucial to consider its holding strength . Maglocks are composed of an electromagnet installed on the door frame and a counter plate on the door leaf. When the electromagnet is activated, it generates a magnetic force that firmly holds the door closed.
Different retention ranges are available:
Maglocks of lower power, with about 180 daN of holding force.
Higher power maglocks, which can reach up to 500 daN of holding force.
Our models:
MEX models: models specially designed for large installations requiring low consumption.
It is important to consider the type of door for which the maglock will be installed.
For internal doorsthe required holding force depends on the intended use. For a basic lock, a holding force of 300 daN is usually sufficient. However, for high security internal doorsespecially in restricted access areas, a higher holding force, such as 500 daN, is recommended.
In the case of exterior doorsa holding force Fail-secure of 300 daN may be adequate to ensure secure closure during certain hours. However, if you are looking for additional security, especially when the building is unoccupied, a higher holding force of at least 500 daN is recommended.
Optimum safety is the main consideration when choosing a maglock with the right holding force for each type of door in your project.
