Magnetic contacts are sophisticated magnetic sensors capable of detecting any intrusion attempt that instantly send a signal to the alarm center, ensuring quick action against any unauthorized access. They are widely used in security systems.
How do they work?
Its operation is based on the detection of the presence or absence of a magnetic field.
Magnetic contacts are composed of two main parts: a reed switch and a magnet. When the magnet is close to the switch, the electrical circuit is kept closed. When the magnet separates, the circuit opens, the magnetic field is disturbed and a signal is immediately sent to the alarm system.
The separation of the magnet and the switch generates a disturbance of the magnetic field, which causes an immediate alarm signal to be sent.
The reed switch is composed of two ferromagnetic contacts encapsulated in a vacuum or inert gas sealed glass tube, which prevents corrosion and ensures greater durability.
Advantages of Magnetic Contacts
Magnetic contacts offer several advantages that make them a reliable and efficient choice in multiple applications. Their innovative design and mode of operation make them ideal for environments where detection and access control are critical.
CM Series
At Openers & Closers we have a wide range of magnetic contacts that adapt to any type of installation. In our CM Series you can find models for Flush mount and Surface mount installations. For a correct selection of the magnetic contact, it is also important to differentiate between the types of surfaces where the installation will be made: ferromagnetic surfaces (Fe) such as iron and non-ferromagnetic surfaces (NFe) such as plastic.
Ease of installation on both ferromagnetic (Fe) and non-ferromagnetic (NFe) surfaces.
Certification
Certification by IMQ according to the European standard EN50131-2-6
Our magnetic contacts are certified by IMQ according to the European standard EN50131-2-6, which establishes the specific requirements for magnetic contacts used in intrusion and assault alarm systems. This standard regulates aspects such as design, installation, operation and resistance to sabotage attempts. Its objective is to ensure that these devices meet high standards of security and reliability, minimizing the risk of unauthorized tampering.
According to this standard, there are 4 safety grades with 4 different classes. At Openers & Closers we have Grade 4 (maximum level of security inside and outside) to ensure your peace of mind and protection:
Grade 2: Medium risk level, sabotage by people with minimal knowledge.
Grade 3: Medium risk level, sabotage by people with high knowledge.
Grade 4: High risk level, sabotage by persons with specific knowledge of the system.
Class II: Environmental operating class for general industrial and indoor environments. Temperature range from -10°C to 40°C with an average relative humidity of 75% without condensation.
Class IV: Environmental operating class for outdoor applications exposed completely and permanently to the weather. Temperature range from -25°C to 60°C with average relative humidity of 75% without condensation.
Magnetic protection
Magnetic protection on magnetic contacts refers to the implementation of anti-sabotage measures to prevent tampering attempts through external interference.
Within magnetic protection, there are different models designed to offer higher levels of security. Two of the most widely used are the PM and PM24 magnetic contacts.
PM: These are magnetic contacts that incorporate an enhanced detection system to prevent tampering with external magnets. The magnetic contact sends an alarm signal to the control panel only when the system is active. They are ideal for moderate security applications in commercial and residential environments.
PM24: They offer a higher level of protection active 24 hours a day. It is an anti-sabotage system that operates even when the system is not active. The magnetic protection detects the intensity of the intrusive magnet at any point of occurrence. The magnetic contact sends an alarm signal directly to the control panel, guaranteeing continuous and effective protection at all times. They are designed for high security installations, such as banks, critical infrastructures and government buildings.
In our CM Series series of magnetic contacts, we offer both PM and PM24 models.
Active safety
The pinnacle of safety systems is active safety.
The active safety system represents the ultimate innovation in protection. The magnetic contact continuously monitors the power supply and analyzes in real time the distance between the devices. This sophisticated mechanism employs a communication algorithm that is digitally adjusted incrementally, ensuring exceptional accuracy and detection of any tampering. In the event of an intrusion, the system identifies communication failures, magnetic interference, access control tampering attempts or unauthorized openings by means of a security tamper.
In conclusion, magnetic contacts have established themselves as a fundamental tool in security systems, providing reliable and rapid detection of any unauthorized access attempt.
The magnetic contacts of the CM Series from Openers & ClosersCM Series magnetic contacts, thanks to their innovative design, their compatibility with different systems and their ease of installation, make them an efficient solution for both residential applications and high-risk infrastructures.
