Why install door closers?

This has many advantages, such as helping to save energy in a building. By keeping doors closed, they prevent heat from heating systems in winter or cold from cooling systems in summer from escaping. By ensuring that doors are securely closed, door closers contribute significantly to reducing noise, maintaining hygiene and preserving privacy.

Types of door closers

Door closer with articulated arm

The articulated arm allows the door to return to its original position.

Door closer with sliding guide

The sliding guide allows the door to return to its original position. It is the newest and most elegant version.

Concealed or integrated door closers

It is implemented in designs that demand architectural aesthetics with the discretion of the closing and opening devices, since it is installed in a concealed manner both in the door leaf and in the door frame.

Floor or pavement

Floor closers are most commonly installed on aluminum and glass doors, being common in places such as offices, museums or public centers.

Door closer components

Closing speed adjustment valve

The speed at which the door closes can be adjusted using this valve. The adjustment range is from 10° to 180°.

Final stroke speed adjustment valve

The closing speed in the last 10° of the door opening can be adjusted with the adjusting valve. In this case, the door accelerates in the last degrees before closing to overcome closing resistances, such as air resistance.

Brake opening adjustment valve

A valve is used to adjust the opening speed of the door, reducing its speed when it is opened with force at a selectable opening angle between 60° and 90°. However, the opening control does not replace door stops or other construction measures that limit the opening angle, for example, if the door opens outward and can be affected by wind.

Closing force adjustment valve

The closing force is adjusted according to the width of the door leaf and its weight. This allows the closing force of the door closer to be perfectly matched to the size of the door. The size of the closing force corresponding to the size of the door closer according to EN 1154 must be selected and adapted to the door width.

Retention mechanism

Mechanism that keeps the door open and prevents it from closing automatically.

Articulated arm or sliding guide

It is the connecting component between the door and the frame, allowing the door to move in a controlled manner.
