Magnetic Contacts: Invisible Guardians of Your Security

Magnetic contacts are sophisticated magnetic sensors capable of detecting any intrusion attempt, instantly sending a signal to the alarm center, ensuring a quick response to any unauthorized access. They are widely used devices in security systems.

How do they work?

Their operation is based on detecting the presence or absence of a magnetic field.

Magnetic contacts consist of two main parts: a reed switch and a magnet. When the magnet is close to the switch, the electrical circuit remains closed. When the magnet is separated, the circuit opens, the magnetic field is altered, and a signal is immediately sent to the alarm system.

The separation of the magnet and the switch

The separation of the magnet and the switch generates an alteration of the magnetic field, which causes an alarm signal to be sent immediately.

The reed switch is composed of two ferromagnetic contacts encapsulated in a vacuum-sealed or inert gas-filled glass tube, preventing corrosion and ensuring greater durability.

Advantages of Magnetic Contacts

Magnetic contacts offer various advantages that make them a reliable and efficient option in multiple applications. Their innovative design and mode of operation make them ideal for environments where detection and access control are essential.

  • Reliability and durability: With no moving parts in direct contact, their wear is minimal.
  • Low energy consumption: They require little energy to operate, making them ideal for battery-powered devices.
  • Easy installation: Their compact and simple design allows for quick installation adaptable to various surfaces.
  • Compatibility with different systems: They can be easily integrated with electronic and automation systems.

CM Series

At Openers & Closers, we offer a wide range of magnetic contacts that adapt to any type of installation. In our CM Series, you can find models for flush and surface installations. For a correct selection of the magnetic contact, it is also important to differentiate between the types of surfaces where the installation will be made: ferromagnetic surfaces (Fe) like iron and non-ferromagnetic surfaces (NFe) like plastic.

Ease of installation on both ferromagnetic (Fe) and non-ferromagnetic (NFe) surfaces.

Certification

Certification by IMQ according to the European standard EN50131-2-6

Certification by IMQ according to the European standard EN50131-2-6

Our magnetic contacts are certified by IMQ according to the European standard EN50131-2-6, which establishes specific requirements for magnetic contacts used in intrusion and assault alarm systems. This standard regulates aspects such as their design, installation, operation, and resistance to sabotage attempts. Its aim is to ensure that these devices meet high standards of security and reliability, minimizing risks of unauthorized tampering.

According to this standard, there are 4 security grades with 4 different classes. At Openers & Closers, we have Grade 4 (maximum level of security indoors and outdoors) to ensure your peace of mind and protection:

  • Grade 2: Medium risk level, sabotage by people with minimal knowledge.
  • Grade 3: Medium risk level, sabotage by people with advanced knowledge.
  • Grade 4: High risk level, sabotage by people with specific knowledge of the system.
  • Class II: Environmental operation class for industrial and general indoor environments. Temperature range between -10°C and 40°C with an average relative humidity of 75% without condensation.
  • Class IV: Environmental operation class for outdoor environments fully and permanently exposed to the elements. Temperature range between -25°C and 60°C with an average relative humidity of 75% without condensation.

Magnetic Protection

Magnetic protection in magnetic contacts refers to the implementation of anti-tampering measures to prevent manipulation attempts through external interference.

Within magnetic protection, there are different models designed to offer higher levels of security. Two of the most used are the PM and PM24 magnetic contacts.

PM and PM24

PM: These are magnetic contacts that incorporate an enhanced detection system to prevent tampering with external magnets. The magnetic contact sends an alarm signal to the control panel only when the system is active. They are ideal for moderate security applications in commercial and residential environments.

PM24: They offer a higher level of protection active 24 hours. It is an anti-tampering system that operates even when the system is not active. The magnetic protection detects the intensity of the intrusive magnet at any point of occurrence. The magnetic contact sends an alarm signal directly to the control panel, ensuring continuous and effective protection at all times. They are designed for high-security installations, such as banks, critical infrastructures, and government buildings.

In our CM Series of magnetic contacts, we offer both PM and PM24 models.

Active Security

The pinnacle in security systems is active security

The pinnacle in security systems is active security.

The active security system represents the ultimate innovation in protection. The magnetic contact continuously monitors the power source and analyzes in real-time the distance between devices. This sophisticated mechanism employs a communication algorithm that adjusts digitally and gradually, ensuring exceptional precision and the detection of any alteration. In the event of an intrusion, the system identifies communication failures, magnetic interference, tampering attempts in access control, or unauthorized openings through a security tamper.

In conclusion, magnetic contacts have established themselves as a fundamental tool in security systems, providing reliable and quick detection against any unauthorized access attempt.

The magnetic contacts of the CM Series by Openers & Closers, thanks to their innovative design, compatibility with different systems, and ease of installation, make them an efficient solution for both residential applications and high-risk infrastructures.
